Elevating Your Web Design Process, According to Hayley Fedders

Hayley Fedders is a web design educator and the head of Studio Seaside, an agency specializing at conversion-ready websites for lifestyle, health, and wellness brands. She’s also developed Square Sprints, a tried-and-true process for designing professional Squarespace sites in just one work week.

Hayley joined Sam Zelitch, Senior Community Events Manager, and Sarah Greisdorf, Channel Partner Program Team Lead, to discuss Square Sprints and practical ways to implement this process in site builds for July 2025’s Circle Live episode.

I’m able to [finish Squarespace sites] so quickly because I’ve refined my process so well. I think that there’s a lot of value in that; clients really want quick turnaround...and by being able to deliver quality work quickly, people are willing to pay for that.
— Hayley Fedders

Hayley didn’t start her web design journey with this process ironed out—or with any process at all. It took experimentation to figure out what did and didn’t work for her workflow and pricing strategy, clear communication with clients, and just plain hard work. Over time, her efforts bore fruit, netting out to a design process she and her students can call truly elevated.

In the discussion, Hayley details this path to design process success and more:

  • Why you should frontload your work, and how to do so effectively

  • How to scope projects and price in a way that satisfies clients and is cost beneficial to you

  • How to take advantage of account saved sections to streamline your workflow

  • What you should (and shouldn’t) communicate to clients throughout the site build sprint

  • How to handle clients who request edit access to their site before offboarding

I really try to be available to my clients, because I want them to come back. I do get invested in their business, and I want them to be happy and succeed.
