Circle Day 2025: Product Keynote with Chief Product Officer Paul Gubbay
Squarespace hosted the fourth annual Circle Day, welcoming thousands of web designers and agencies online and in person. The theme of the event, “Design Differently,” invited attendees to reflect on how they approach design—whether through the websites they build, user experiences they cultivate, or workflows that keep their projects moving. Circle Day 2025 was a true celebration of the Circle members who push Squarespace to its limit, inspiring the Squarespace product team to make the tool even better.
The day began with Squarespace Chief Product Officer Paul Gubbay, who highlighted some of 2025’s biggest changes to the Circle program and gave the community a peek at how they’ll be able to design differently soon—most notably Squarespace for Pros.
Squarespace for Pros
Over the past year, Squarespace has made the most significant investment in professional tooling in the company’s history. The goal? To create a single, integrated platform—one system that’s powerful enough for professionals yet intuitive for clients.
Squarespace for Pros is a suite of advanced tools and features, purpose-built for professional creators. These advanced, expressive design capabilities are seamlessly integrated into the platform you know and love.
Here’s what we’re most excited about in this new era of Squarespace for Pros:
Mobile overrides
Squarespace’s Finish Layer offers a new set of advanced design capabilities. The professional-grade tools will help you take websites to the next level. Mobile overrides enable you to create truly different mobile experiences with independent block settings. This means you can design impactful layouts that look great and function well on any screen.
New block settings
Add more depth and personality to block content with next-generation display and placement flexibility with block transforms. Another feature of Finish Layer, block transforms offer fine-tune control with options to rotate, scale, skew, offset, and change the opacity of blocks.
Custom code specs
Some clients have needs that can’t always be met natively on Squarespace. Squarespace has published a growing spec list for writing reliable custom code on Squarespace. These specs are stable HTML data attributes that you can target with confidence to write custom code for several blocks, with the expectation that Squarespace will make every effort to avoid making changes, even when the platform undergoes refactoring efforts.
Expanded API
Squarespace is making a significant effort to expand the platform’s APIs, with a special focus on Commerce APIs. Additional APIs include forms, abandoned checkouts, invoicing, and more to support the many ways that your clients want to nurture leads or manage client relationships.
More ways to earn points and money
In March of this year, Squarespace introduced a new point system to reward a wide range of work and different business models within the Circle community. Currently, Circle members can earn points for new subscriptions and helping existing subscribers improve their sites, and, now, there are two new ways to earn points: migrating a client from 7.0 to 7.1 and attaching Squarespace Payments to a client’s site.
Referral payments are an important benefit for the Circle community. Beginning in January 2026, every registered Circle member will receive referral payments for every new annual website, Acuity Scheduling, and Email Campaigns subscription. That means there's no longer an unlock threshold to earn commissions for your Squarespace projects.
Circle Day’s Product Keynote introduced the community to new, pro-grade tools and new ways to design differently in the product. With more extensions and custom code specs, web designers can continue to push what’s possible. And, in the coming, they can earn more points and money doing so.
