How to transfer your domain to Squarespace

Unlock your domain by following your current provider’s instructions.
Get the authorization code from your provider. This may be referred to as an EPP code or transfer key.
Enter your domain in the domain field above to start the transfer.
Authorize the transfer by entering your authorization code.
Check out and pay. Keep the time remaining on your current registration, plus an additional year.

How long will it take to transfer a domain to Squarespace?

Sixty days must have elapsed since you registered or transferred the domain with your current provider. After you get started, transferring a domain to Squarespace can take anywhere from one to 15 days. How much does it cost to transfer my domain?

The transfer itself is free, but a paid one-year extension of your domain registration is required. You’ll keep the time remaining on your registration on top of the extra year you’ll register through us. Learn more about pricing here. What is SSL and WHOIS?

WHOIS is an internet record that lists information about domains. Squarespace automatically removes your personal contact information from the WHOIS record at no extra fee to keep your domain ownership information private. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), is a technology that secures the connection between your browser and the website you’re visiting. Websites using SSL will have URLs beginning with https:// and creates trust with visitors by showing that their information is secure and encrypted on your site.

Should I transfer my domain or connect it?

For most users, we recommend transferring your domain to Squarespace. This way, you can manage all aspects of your site in one place, without needing a separate domain service. However, if your domain isn’t eligible for transfer, or if you need to keep it hosted with your current provider, connecting can be a useful alternative.
